Sitting Puppy (Hamburger and Shwarma)

Supplies

  • 1 skein of dark brown (or your choice, I used dark red for Hamburger) blanket yarn (main color)
  • 1 skein of light brown (or your choice, I used white for Hamburger) blanket yarn (light color)
  • 1 small thin black yarn
  • size 5 cm hook (for the blanket yarn)
  • size 2.5 cm hook (for the thin black yarn)
  • 2 googly eyes (or safety eyes if you want)
  • scissors
  • needle for sewing the yarn
  • stuffing

Stitch terms

All terms are in American Crochet

Sl = slip stitch
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Sc2tog= single crochet 2 together or a decrease single crochet

 

Use the 5 cm hook for everything unless stated otherwise

Body

use the main color blanket yarn

  1. In Magic Cirlce Sc x6 (6)
  2. 2sc in each stitch around (12)
  3. (sc, 2sc) around (18)
  4. (sc x2,2sc) around (24)
  5. (sc x 3, 2sc) around (30)
  6. (sc x 4,2sc) around (36)
  7. sc around for the next 2rounds (42)
  8. (sc x 5, 2sc) around (42)
  9. sc around for the next 4 rounds (42)
  10. (sc x 5, sc2tog) around (36)
  11. sc around (36)
  12. (sc x 4, sc2tog) around (30)
  13. sc around for the next 9 rounds (30)
  14. (sc x3, sc2tog) around (24)
  15. Stuff the body
  16. (sc x 2, sc2tog) around (18)
  17. (sc , sc2tog) around (12)
  18. Finish stuffing the body
  19. sc2tog around (6)
  20. finish off and sew end closed.

 

Head

use the main color blanket yarn

  5. (sc x 3, 2sc) around (30)
  6. sc around (30)
  7. (sc x 4,2sc) around (36)

  9.  sc around for 4 more rounds (42)
  10. switch colors to the lighter color and sc around for 4 more rounds (42)
  11. Switch back to the main color and sc around for 4 more rounds (42)
  12. (sc x 5, sc2tog) around (36)
  13. (sc x 4, sc2tog) around (30)
  14. (sc x3, sc2tog) around (24)
  15. stuff the head
  16. (sc x 2, sc2tog) around (18)
  17. (sc , sc2tog) around (12)
  18. finish stuffing the head
  19. sc2tog around (6)
  20. finish off and sew end closed.

Nose

option 1 ,the tan nose (Swarma’s)

with light color

  1. ch2
  2. sc in second ch from hook 5 times in this case the first ch will count as a stitch. (6)
  3. 2sc around (12)
  4. (sc, 2sc) around (18)
  5. sc around for 4 more rounds (18)
  6. (sc , sc2tog) around (12)
  7. finish off ( sl, ch, and pull through) and leave a long tail to sew on.
  8. stuff before sewing nose tip on

option 2 (Hamburger’s nose , a more rounded one)

with light color

  1. ch2
  2. sc in second ch from hook 5 times in this case the first ch will count as a stitch. (6)
  3. 2sc around (12)
  4. sc around (12)
  5. (sc, 2sc) around (18)
  6. sc around for 3 more rounds (18)
  7. (sc , sc2tog) around (12)
  8. sc around (12)
  9. stuff
  10. sc2tog around (6)
  11. finish off ( sl, ch, and pull through) and leave a long tail to sew on.

Nose tip for both options

using thin black yarn

using the 2.5 cm hook

  1. in magic circle 6sc
  2. 2sc around (12)
  3. 2sc around (24)
  4. sc, 2sc around (36)
  5. finish off ( sl, ch, and pull through) and leave a long tail to sew on.
  6. sew on to tip of nose

Front Paws (make 2)

with lighter color

  1. Ch2
  2. in second ch from hook 5sc (5)
  3. 2sc around (10)
  4. (sc,2sc) around (15)
  5. (scx2,2sc) around (20)
  6. sc around for 2 rows and change to main color to finish last stitch (20)
  7. sc x4, sc2tog x3, sc x 10 (17)
  8. Sc x 4, sc2tog x3, sc x 7 (1)
  9. sc around for 3 more rows
  10. finish off ( sl, ch, and pull through) and leave a long tail to sew on. You will stuff just before sewing on

Back paws (make 2)

 

with lighter color

  1. Ch2
  2. in second ch from hook 5sc (5)
  3. 2sc around (10)
  4. (sc,2sc) around (15)
  5. sc around for 2 more rows (15)
  6. sc x 4, sc2tog x 3, sc x 5 (12)
  7. sc x 4, sc2tog x 2, sc x 4 (10)
  8. sc x 5 ,switch to main color, sc x 5 (10)
  9. sc around for 3 more rows (10)
  10. stuff
  11. sc2tog x 3, sc x2, sc2tog (6)
  12. finish stuffing if needed
  13. finish off ( sl, ch, and pull through) and leave a long tail to sew on. You will stuff just before sewing on.

Ear (make 2)

with main color (you are working from top to bottom)

  1. ch 7 (leave a long tail for sewing on)
  2. starting in second chain from hook sc x 6, ch1, turn (6)
  3. sc x 6, ch1 turn (6)
  4. repeat row 3 three times
  5. change to lighter color
  6. repeat row 3 four times
  7. sc2tog, scx 2, sc2tog (4)
  8. sc2tog x 2 (2)
  9. finish off and weave in end

Tail

with lighter yarn

  1. Ch2
  2. in second ch from hook 6sc (6)
  3. sc around for 6 more rows (6)
  4. finish off ( sl, ch, and pull through) and leave a long tail to sew on. You will stuff just before sewing on.

Eyes (make 2)

with small black yarn

(you may have to play around with the number of stitches depending on the thickness of your black yarn. I need the third row you might not or you might need to add a fourth increasing row)

using the 2.5 cm hook even for the blanket yarn.

  1. in magic circle 8sc (8)
  2. 2sc around (16)
  3. sc, 2sc around (24)
  4. change to light color yarn (blanket yarn)
  5. sc x 16 (should be 2/3 to 3/4 of the way around the black)
  6. Finish off and weave in ends
  7. If you want to use safety eyes put them in now before sewing on. I used googly eyes and just glued them on after.

To assemble all the pieces

  1. Sew nose tip to nose if you have not already
  2. Sew nose to head
  3. Sew ears on on side of head
  4. Sew eyes to head
  5. Sew head to body front top (Front is the thinner end)
  6. Stuff front legs
  7. Sew front legs on front bottom of body
  8. Sew back legs to the sides of body
  9. Stuff tail
  10. Sew tail to top of body back
  11. If you didn’t use safety eyes glue on the googly eyes.
  12. Name the dog (No you don’t have to use a food name that’s just my families fun)
